According to reports‚ the technical education board of state of Maharashtra has accepted the newly proposed JEE exam format as prescribed by HRD ministry. As a consequence of which‚ admissions to the engineering courses in Maharashtra now would be carried through the national level joint entrance examination for the academic session 2014-15.

State cabinet‚ after discussion with the panel of technical
education officials‚ decided that the new pattern of admission into
professional engineering courses would be adopted by Maharashtra state.
The cabinet meeting‚ chaired by the chief minister‚ Mr. Prithviraj
Chavan‚ also decided that the standard Class XII curriculum would be
upgraded to match the standards of JEE next year.
As per the new orders‚ admissions now would be made upon the scores
of entrance exam and class XII in the ratio of 50:50. The advantages of
adopting the new system of admission will particularly help the
candidates from rural areas. Also‚ the single entrance exam would be
suffice to take admissions in the state’s engineering colleges as well
as IITs and ISM Dhanbad. Candidates need not prepare for separate exams
and just prepare for JEE Main in full force.
